Ghost Kit is a set of paranormal field instruments for iPhone, built on the sensors already in your phone, with an archive of 758 documented haunted locations across all fifty states.
Contact
Email [email protected] with questions, bugs, or suggestions. It is one person reading these, so allow a couple of days for a reply.
If you are reporting a problem, it helps enormously to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, and the app version, which is at the bottom of the app’s Settings screen.
Common questions
Does this actually detect ghosts?
No, and the app says so before you ever use it. Ghost Kit is entertainment. What it does do is show you real readings from real sensors, and tell you plainly which parts are measured and which the app generates. That honesty is the whole point of it.
My EMF reading is enormous. Is it broken?
Almost certainly not. If you use a MagSafe case, a magnetic mount, or a wallet that clips to the back of your phone, the magnets in it sit centimetres from the magnetometer and dominate the reading.
The number to watch is CHANGE, not the raw figure. Set a baseline in a quiet spot and every reading afterwards is measured against the room as you found it, which cancels your case out entirely.
The Proximity screen never registers anything.
That is usually correct behaviour rather than a fault. A contact requires two separate instruments to depart from normal at the same moment. A fuse box or a charger moves the magnetometer and nothing else, so it deliberately does not count. Long quiet stretches are the honest answer.
If you want it to register more often, lower the threshold in Settings under Detection. Also give it twenty seconds when you arrive somewhere: it has to learn what that room normally does before it can tell you anything has changed.
Proximity says CALIBRATING and will not stop.
It recalibrates whenever it notices you moving, which is intended. If you have carried the phone to another room and it did not notice, tap RECALIBRATE and hold still for twenty seconds.
The SLS record button is greyed out.
Video recording is blocked below 10 percent battery. Recording video while running the camera, four sensors and shape detection is the hardest thing this app does, and a phone that dies in an unfamiliar dark place is a real problem rather than an inconvenience. Charge it and the button returns.
No skeleton appears on the SLS screen.
Ghost Kit draws only genuine detections from Apple’s on-device pose detection. Unlike most apps in this category it never invents a figure. Point it at an actual person to confirm it is working. In low light on coats, chairs and shadows the detector does misfire, and those real false positives are left in, because that is exactly what happens with hardware SLS rigs.
Where are my recordings? Can I get them off the phone?
Everything is stored inside the app on your device. Each recording has a share button, which hands the file to the normal iOS share sheet, so you can message it, email it, or save it to Files.
Settings shows a full breakdown of what is using space. Video is far larger than audio, roughly 30 to 60 MB a minute.
Will I lose everything if I delete the app?
Yes. There is no account and no cloud copy, so deleting the app deletes your recordings with it. Share anything you want to keep first.
Why is there no temperature reading?
Because iPhones have no ambient temperature sensor. Apps that show you a cold spot thermometer are making the number up. We would rather be one dial short than invent one.
The spirit box is making sounds that are not words.
That is the phoneme bed, and it is intentional. Between whole words the sweep carries fragments of speech that are not words at all, so the app cannot be accused of having said anything. You can turn it off in Settings under Spirit box if you would rather hear only whole words.
Safety
Ghost Kit never reports a direction or a distance to anything, deliberately, so there is nothing to walk toward. It hides its own screen when it detects that you are moving. Please do not use it while walking, cycling or driving, do not enter buildings or property you are not permitted to be in, and do not go anywhere unlit and unfamiliar on the strength of a phone app.
The full safety notice is in the app, under Settings.
Privacy
Ghost Kit collects no data at all. The full policy is at beyondhaunted.com/ghost-kit-privacy.
